太極拳 Tai Chi, Taiji, Taijiquan, Tai Gik Kyun

Tai Chi (note that this “chi” is different from “qi” 氣) is a martial art with Daoist roots. The practice of this art is very compatible with broader qigong meditation, and is built upon the same shared principles.

That’s all in theory! It’s hard to find a “real” tai chi teacher nowadays. A lot of tai chi you do in a park will be great for your physical health, but may have limited benefits for your mind and spirit. As for the body, there are probably more efficient modern ways to stay in shape.

If you’re personally interested, contact lazyriverqigong@gmail.com. It’s my preference to only teach tai chi in private sessions to those who are seriously interested. I practice Wu style tai chi under Okinawan Grandmaster Tenzan Hirakawa and teach as a branch of Tenshin-Kai Tai Chi.
