Hi! I’m Colin
I’m in my thirties and moved to South Lake not so long ago. I was born and raised an Asian American Californian. My relationship with my body has been shaped primarily through competitive sports (aquatics and martial arts), but that relationship has heavily evolved throughout the typical flows of late twenties life.
As I’ve come to understand my needs and senses beyond just my body and physical health, I’ve of course had to look for different tools to address the evolving challenges of mental and emotional health. I found my way back to the Tai Chi my grandpa tried to teach me as a kid, and found my entryway into meditation through the simpler movements of the qigong warm ups we would do before practicing Tai Chi forms. Over the past few years, this practice has become a broadly useful tool in tackling life for me!
Culturally, as modern Americans, our individual mental and social health are not at their strongest, and I do think the availability of these types of practices, but also of these types of practice groups, can help us work on remedying those tougher parts of life together.
Come join for a couple practices, the opportunity to meet in person and get to know each other is a big part of how this whole thing works, see how this practice makes you feel, and how it might fit into your life!
I don’t really love Confucius, but many of his analects are well known: “三十而立” could roughly mean “at thirty, I stood upright.” This is me standing up!
